Stay social – a food hub first

stay social food hubs Our house was full of very passionate and talented guests who took part in the first Australian Food Hubs Conference. They took time out give a chook a cuddle and to inspect our wicking bed vegetable gardens in the back yard.

After two huge days the first Australian Community Food Hubs conference was deemed a resounding success by many accounts. Bendigo is a strong player in the food systems of the future and we know that all of our community can benefit by supporting healthy locally grown produce being available to all Bendigo residents, regardless of income or location.

Conference organiser Jen Alden told us:

“I love the concept of Stay Social and thought it would be perfect for our conference delegates. So when we sent out the details for the conference, we listed Stay Social as one of the recommended places to stay.”

Jen knew that Stay Social would be a great accommodation option for conference goers who were coming from out of town, and as a result Stay Social was booked out with conference delegates. Everyone staying at Stay Social were able to get to know each other better over breakfast each morning.

Cynthia Lim from Exchange Food said

“Those who learn together, stay together. What fun to find my housemates were attending the same brilliant conference. Perfect homely accommodation.”
